Why Influence Matters Among Women Executives?

The 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking has grown from an influence ranking recognizing the business acumen, professional achievements and personal tenacity of top-performing women into a community focused on women’s professional development, career advancement and peer-to-peer networking.

Why is professional development important? Because influence among women in financial services is about using one’s expertise, experience and power to bring about change—in how businesses are profitably managed and grown, how a spirit of collaboration is engendered to produce results and how the influence of notable women leaders extends from the boardroom and into the communities and markets in which institutions play a vital role. It also enables women leaders to expand the circle and influence the future by helping other women ascend in their careers.

To that end, U.S. Banker launched The Mentor Factor: Women Helping Women Build Fulfilling Careers in 2007. The regional leadership workshop programs, held in New York, San Francisco and Charlotte each year, saw the contributions of many 25 MPWIB honorees, including U.S. Bancorp’s Pamela Joseph, AIG’s Joyce Phillips, KeyCorp’s Beth Mooney, The Bank of New York Mellon’s Karen Peetz, JPMorgan Chase’s Faith Massingale, Fifth Third’s Colleen Kvetko, Cascade Financial Carol Nelson, Wells Fargo alum Doreen Woo Ho and First Citizen’s Kathy Klotzberger.

In 2008, U.S. Banker is deepening its commitment to The 25 MPWIB community with plans to build an international, membership-based social networking site completely dedicated to the professional development needs of women in financial services. The site will feature a database of members (domestic and international executives), profile information, editorial content geared to women executives, the schedule of 25 MPWIB professional development events and programs around the country and online mentoring/coaching and talent management services.

Become a part of this powerful community by nominating yourself or another woman of outstanding achievement for consideration in this year’s 25 MPWIB ranking, register to attend the National Leadership Workshop (to be held on October 20 at The Plaza; attendees must be senior vice president or higher to be eligible) or sign up to participate as a coach in The Mentor Factor programs.

Expand the Circle. Influence the Future.
